After two exceptional years of seed investing at Lerer Ventures, I’m excited to announce that I’ll be joining RRE Ventures in September as a Principal focused on Series A investments.
RRE has been at the center of New York’s start-up community since the early 90s and now manages approximately $1 billion in committed capital across five funds. There are very few NYC-based firms today with more experience finding great founders, helping entrepreneurs, and building awesome businesses. The partners at RRE have invested in innovative companies like Betaworks, Makerbot, WisdomTree, Vine, Paperless Post, Quirky, Bark Co. to name a few.
The team at RRE has the perfect blend of experience and intellectual horsepower to support entrepreneurs for the next decade and beyond. Jim Robinson and Stu Ellman have been investing in early stage tech companies for nearly twenty years. Eric Wiesen, Adam Ludwin and Tom Loverro form a talented core with a mix of product, legal and business development expertise. Operationally, the fund is in great hands with Will Porteous. I’m more bullish on the New York tech ecosystem than ever before and I’m confident that in my new role at RRE I am in the best position to help entrepreneurs achieve their goals towards building companies that last.
I’d like to extend my sincerest thanks and gratitude to Eric Hippeau, Kenny Lerer, Ben Lerer, Jordan Cooper and the rest of the team at Lerer Ventures. The last two years have been nothing short of amazing. Thank you all. I greatly appreciate all of the guidance and coaching you provided and will absolutely pay it forward in the coming years. I look forward to collaborating on future deals and building stronger ties between Lerer and RRE.
Finally, to the founders in the LV portfolio: I’d like to thank all of you that I’ve had the privilege of working with over the last two years. I wouldn’t have a job if it wasn’t for your hard work, dedication, and the amazing products you ship. While I’m joining a new fund, I want the you to know that you can always reach out no matter what the need. I genuinely mean it and hope you take me up on my offer.
My first day at RRE will be in early September after I get married (yay) and recharge my batteries. I really couldn’t be more fired up to get started. You can always reach me at Twitter, LinkedIn, or my personal email (schlaf55 at gmail dot com). Have a great summer everyone.
